Attend to

‘Attend’, as in to attend to one’s studies, is literally a stretching of the mind. In this case, there is a fire at the core of learning, to which one must attend. Please do not through big chunks of wood or construction waste on to your inner fire. If you are paying attention… ‘pay’ meaning to please and therefore, a satisfying, rewarding regard to the matter at hand… you will worship your task, your area of study by nurturing the flames. 

Today, one comes back to carefully attending to the fire because it is likely that something has been missed, or perhaps deemed by someone in higher authority to be poorly done. Gathering oneself such that what has been accomplished is maintained, plus what is still yet to be achieved, prepared for, is a time for perseverance. No blame.

One might experience this situation as severe, as if one were experiencing tightness or a shrinking feeling. However, the fire worshipper, through his attentiveness, ensures that kindness returns to one’s studies and endeavours. Keep the flame alive… not too big, nor too small, but just so. Continuance furthers.
