Leo/Aquarius 24 are affectionately called the "Yoga" degrees in my world.
The suggestion is that the world turns on the human spinal cord. Therefore, for any human individual, much can be worked, changed, improved by attention to the back, the spinal cord, to flexibility, supple maneuvers that work with core life energy.
The word 'turn' appears in the corresponding symbol Aquarius 9, "A flag turned into an eagle'. the correspondence comes by virtue of the 15 degree observation... all 9th degree symbols relate closely with all 24th degree symbols.
In Aquarius 9, a flag, an inanimate symbol and object, turns into an animate symbol of the majestic winged eagle. One thing comes to live... animates... and thereby takes on more dramatic power. Think of it this way: a flag can lie n the floor, neglected, not paid attention to, but often when raised in the mind's of those who identify it, fuel passions and loyalties that can be world changing.
In Aquarius 24, the image is of turning one's back on something, on passions, emotions, energy that can fuel dramatic behaviours. But also, within the intentional practise of yoga, even the simplest asanas are based on subtle, gentle, but yoked control of the spine. The challenge lies in the turning... perhaps suggesting the proper technique of yogic exercise.
Leo 24, "An untidy, unkempt man" suggests someone with unruly, uncombed hair that is disheveled much like waves curling and breaking in an ocean tide. The reference to hair, unkempt = uncombed, is echoed in Taurus 24, "A mounted Indian with scalp locks". Scalp locks are indeed hair symbolizing power, accomplishment and achievement.
Scorpio 24 "Crowds coming down the mountain to listen to one man" suggests a turn around in the sense that crowds do not normally come down the mountain. The more usual expression is to climb a mountain to listen to someone. It is a major theme in both Taurus and Scorpio 24 that individuals do not especially rely on other people's opinions regarding their own self-worth. They wear their talents and achievements with an inner sense of pride, perhaps disdaining public acclaim. One also finds these individuals having hard time... like a local musician playing all the clubs to not much public acclaim. A whole air of con-desencion prevails.
An untidy, unkempt man (Leo 24) is one who cares little for personal appearance, nor public opinion.
A man turning his back on passions or whatever in ordinary life, cares little for surface manifestation. All is channeled into inward, personal mastery and achievement. This makes it potentially difficult to be 'successful' in the work world, but highly likely to be a master of self-mastery.
Everything turns upon the spine... that cord of core life energy that is one's own and no one else's. If this individual wants to improve a situation, it falls to work done personally, inwardly, making a turn that makes a difference.
