Uplifting serious situations...
... is often very simple. The rule of hospitality suggests a welcoming approach and attitude can uplift everyone and everything.
Imagine situations with difficult people, or a problem with a history of difficult negotiations. Even though there may be a long history not characterized as joyous , pleasant or easy, somehow hospitality and the attitude hospitality implies can make it very much better.
The analogy is that of toys in a children's ward of a hospital. The toys may be regarded as sinister distractions by some, but really, they create a welcoming atmosphere. if the children coming to the hospital are excited about the toys rather than anxious about their health, isn't that situation more healing?
