The 'key', the 'clue', the 'secret'...
Virgo 29 "A man gaining secret knowledge from a paper he is reading" suggests situations where the answer to a puzzle is available, but one must 'read' the situation in order to gain it.
'Reading' tends to be an activity that follows the line of text, in occidental languages, usually from left to right. However, not all languages line up left to right.
Consider a mandala, or a horoscope. Information is presented in great detail within a whole presentation. Both the horoscope as a whole and the minute observable details, for example, are inter-dependent.
'Secret' suggests something hidden. Think of a 'clue'... a hint to a deeper meaning. the word 'clue' derives from a ball of thread, which in ancient Greek myth was used as a means to find the way out of a labyrinth. Hence, a thread of sense that sees one's way clear.
A 'key' unlocks or opens by splitting... the word deriving from something that splits open, a wedge... something long and narrow.
In Virgo 29, ' secret knowledge is gained' by reading... between the lines?, for deeper meaning, for a clue or code that unlocks greater insight? All seem to work very well.
The opposing Pisces symbol "A prism" suggests taking one thing... white light... and refracting it into a spectrum of colors. The Virgo symbol suggests taking one constituent element to find one's way back to the whole.
