Informality and innovation...
When the watchful eye of convention, rule and authority are somewhat removed, an opportunity arises that permits of a casual approach to the matter at hand.
Imagine forming a church choir with a disparate group of non-sanctioned singers with secular sensibilities. One could sing hymns in hip-hop reggae bluegrass stylings, or bee-bop-a-loo-la, finger-poppin' time.
The key is to loosen the grip of formalities, dress casually, get into the spirit of the matter rather than strain to fit a standard that is assumed, projected or imposed. Songs of praise, love or affection are no less so when sung with shoes kicked off and neck-ties loosened.
