A storehouse of root energy...
A magazine is a storehouse, like a store for ammunition or firepower of some sort, as well as reading material which may contain something powerful such as information expressed in an explosive way.
'Radical' means pertaining to the root. So, for example, one might speak to the root cause of discontent, or seek to find the root idea of a political or social perspective.
In the garden, if you are pulling some weeds, or thinning out some pants that have taken root in an aggressive take-over fashion, it is good to get right down to the roots else the plants will just come back later.
While driving to a popular commercial outlet a while back, my son tried to prepare me for how to handle the poor customer service we would inevitably experience. He said, "Rude is the new Rad, Dad".
I think what he meant was that I needed to get aggressive, angry, intense when ignored by what are blissfully called 'customer service associates' in a large chain store. I needed to grab the first pimply-faced lad who ignored my question... grab him physically, I suppose... maybe two 'vel' fingers hooked in his 'cro' nostrils in order to command his full attention... plus a tone of voice that out-powered the huge reserve of indifference, disdain, and sheer stupidity such customer service associates are conditioned to... and demand an answer to my "where is..." question that satisfied our needs right there and then.
I think that is what my son meant.
I, of course, ignored everyone. Walked around in circles scanning shelves for a single item that naturally was not available. I did find 'sought after item #1 on my own, but the follow-up item #2 brought us dangerously close to the rude-rad-reality of consumer hell.
My son urged me to follow a young customer service associate after he ignored my hand signal to get his attention, but he was walking so fast my leisurely pace was soon left behind. I noticed two others talking on cell phones and realized they were talking to each other... one aisle apart. Another young curly haired fellow was speaking to a managerial looking older man not separated by four feet of distance. What was odd about this interaction is that, it too, was a conversation conducted on cell phones.
I did look the check out guy in the eye in such a way that he did not try to up-sell us, nor ask if we had found everything we were looking for. But he did make us place out purchase in a bag ourselves and only sighed three or four times in contempt at the exact change I placed on the check-out counter. He was obviously not amused at my 'exact amount' precision. Grabbed recklessly at the bills and coin, spilling some on the floor, making us wait for our receipt while he casually bent to pick up the offending coins.
The punctuation to this "Rude is Rad" customer service experience was the absence of any expression of "Have a nice day!" or, "Come back again soon!".
Back to Gemini 5. The radical magazine degree can be exceptionally fast... there is speed and haste that powers it along. It is not afraid to let loose something of power... think of an outrageous remark in the course of conventionally polite conversation. But it can also be extremely efficient, if somewhat cool is the discharge of its function.
Today's Sun position, May 25, 2009, illuminates Gemini 5 while the Moon also occupies Gemini degrees. Ideas and words are in abundance... just consider this windy post. There is an explosive potential, but not necessarily one of deep consequence. The mind is quick, the brightness is stunning. The depth is... maybe there, maybe not.
If someone gets on a soap-box today to rage about injustice or any other complaint or anxiety, it is important to think deeply about the root cause/motivation of the outburst. You might find it better to keep thoughts to yourself... in the background lest the match you strike land in a tinder field of explosives.
