The flash of insight...
Meditation practice is often explained by analogy to calming disturbed waters.
Imagine a pool of water that has been disturbed such that sediment and swirls round and round, this way and that. When the pool is allowed to rest, to quiet, the sediment settles naturally leaving calm, clear water.
When the mind is still like a beautifully clear water, penetrating insight can occur.
The word 'spiritist' is not in common use today. 'Spirit' derives from Latin meaning breathe. Of its many senses and uses, 'spirit' is ever closely associated with vital essence of animating power in living organisms. For example, 'animism' is a view that sees spirit in all things: the living earth; animal spirits; disembodied spirits; elementals and so on.
Today, the Sun visits Uranus in the heavens. Ideas and insights may be in extraordinary profusion. The world sees alive. An agitated mind may not know which way to turn. A stilled mind may sparkle with awe inspiring insight.
