The mannequin degree...
The movement from stiff to nimble, rigid to flexible, finds a mid-point in wax figures. Molding wax... presumably when it is soft and pliable... into a basic shape that can be refined, detailed and then dressed cosmetically, is the art of fashion.
In this symbol, there is also a sense of middle ground fashion wise.
Imagine giving a passing nod to older fashions while at the same time incorporating a touch of cutting edge style.
One can shape a core principle, a message, an ideal and still present it as something not-so-revolutionary to those of conventional taste and disposition. This 'art' is found in marketing, propaganda, personal persuasion... look and listen for it and you will find it everywhere.
And it is true that fashion models do often have an important placement in this degree.
