Sometimes when things get all twisted, trouble ensues. Sometimes, it opens a new perspective that unites what was once clearly separated.
The 4th degree Leo/Aquarius is a very curious combination of word images. Leo 4 "A man formally dressed and a deer with its horns folded" and Aquarius 4 "A Hindu Healer" seem anything but a smooth and easy symbol pair to understand.
The threads of sense are there, however, and their untangling can be found in my book "The Sabian Symbols in Astrological Analysis: The Original Symbols Fully Revealed".
My entry for this degree-pair is one of my favorites... although perhaps a little obscure for the casual reader. Still, the threads of sense all come together.
'Hindu' is a name for 'non-muslims' living in a certain region. The root word 'hind' is Persian and also relates to the name for a female deer. Columbus thought he had found the East Indies and called the native people Indians. Somehow all this twists together through the sense of these two symbols.
Perhaps it is easiest to consider walking in another man's footsteps before making a judgment upon him. The act of simply reversing or turning one's belief around is an extraordinary exercise that often opens a sense of brotherhood as opposed to animosity or a 'them and us' mentality. That can be very healing.
Strife born of emotional belief can be healed. It may seem a tough challenge at first, but twisting the belief into its opposite... calling a spade a heart... strangely, wonderfully, can turn everything around for the better.
The key is to steer clear of conceit and and petty pride.
