Today: A deserted home may sound like an empty promise or evoke a sense of hopes unfulfilled. One could be watching the road, anxiously waiting for a love one to return. It is easy to feel the hollow chambers of desertion and sink into a belief that this is your fate alone.
But the blazing fireplace points to another factor, humanistically true. An active dynamic that passively stays on. Receptivity, it turns out is not so passive. Quiet and gentle perhaps, but a special action none the less.
The day suggests letting expectation and hope pinned on others, on events and developments, drop. In this way, space is opened for something that truly belongs, to come home.
