Cancer 27: A storm in a canyon

Like a cannonball...

The Sabian symbol for Cancer 27 contains the word 'canyon' which is related to the 'cannon'.

Derived from a hollow reed through which one could force an object... a dart for example... with a sharp strong blow in one end of the hollow shaft. 

A cannon is built on the same premise: a hollow tube shot out at great speed by a small explosion directing the energy out the open end of the tube  or cannon barrel.

The connection with the reed may reach as far back as Sumerian-Akkadian times. The reed was also called 'cana' hence, 'cane' and on its way to cannon and canyon.

The reed need not be round. a reed with two stiff steep sides could also to used to the same effect as a channel through which to pass water, for example. With a little force at one end of the channel or canyon, the element propelled through the canyon picks up speed and force such that it can become like a cannonball fired from a large cannon.

Greetings...

With both Uranus and Mars on this degree in my natal chart, I have been put on alert that tomorrow (with Luna in Cancer, no less!) is going to launch a *rilly big shew.* While I am inclined to simply go into samadhi for the day, circumstances in my community insist otherwise.
